This a shot of my daughter Ginny, my Border Collie Nikkie, and me at the summit of Jughandle Mountain.  This was Ginny's first trip up and maybe Nikkie's first also.  I would guess it was about my 10th trip up.  I almost screwed up all the photos that trip by forgetting to check my camera settings.  I had the camera set at an ISO over 3200, a bit much for sunlight.  But, Photoshop was able to recover most off the blown out images.

My wife and I did a quick backpacking trip up to Box Lake for a couple of days.  The area on the north end of the lake had been burned in the massive Blackwell fire in 1994, leaving lots of dead charred trees.  We normally get Bear Grass blooms, but this was the most blooming Bear Grass I have every seen in one area.  The photo doesn't even begin to show the vastness of this bloom.  It was like this behind me, to the left of me, to the right of me and over the hill for another mile.  When I got back to camp my legs were a whitish yellow from the pollen that had collected on me as I walked through the fields of flowers.

1/400, f/10.0, ISO 250 - Nikon D300 with 18-200mm f/3.5/5.6 lens at 70mm

I mentioned Cly Lake earlier.  Below is a sunrise picture taken from near my campsite.  Upper Cly is like Prince Lake and 33 Lake in the way the outlet has a view off to the distant peaks - no trees or rocks blocking the view.  Of course this lake, like many in our area, is in a glacial cerk.

There is really only one good camp site at Upper Cly, and maybe one OK one near the outlet.  The good one is up above the lake, with an excellent view, and really close to a stream.  Cly Lakes have no trail to them, so getting there can be a bit of a challenge.  My worry is that when I get there the one good camp site will be taken, and that's double bad because I really don't like to share mountain lakes.

From the rocks and cliffs above the lake you can see large fish swimming about, but I don't think I've ever hooked one at upper Cly Lake.  They're probably big old cutthroats.
