Bald Eagle - Osprey - Pileated Woodpecker

These 3 images are interesting for a couple of reasons.  All 3 birds where at one time somewhat rare, if not endangered, around McCall.  Also interesting is that they're all shot sitting on the same snag.  They're fairly easy to find these days, but as a child back in the 50's and 60's I don't recall seeing these birds much, if at all.  I remember large WW2 bombers flying over the area spraying DDT as a mosquito control.  We still had lots of mosquitoes after that, but no birds to speak of.  It's been decades getting the populations back up.

Below is another shot from the same place.  This little Pygmy Owl is on the little tree top next to the snag.  A good place to shoot bird portraits!
