This is kind of fun. This is the new design for the Idaho Wildlife license plate. The old design was is the largest selling specialty plate in Idaho. The new design is the first use of a photograph on a license plate in Idaho. The design is a combination of a photograph and graphics.
The elk image is my photo. I shot this guy along the Madison River on the Idaho / Wyoming border, just inside Yellowstone. I had worked my way into a small thicket of trees fairly close to the bull, and not really well protected. Another bull had started bugling behind me, so this bull was working his way closer toward me. I moved a bit, making some noise. This bull heard me and I believe he thought the sound and motion was from the rival bull. I really don't think he was friendly at this point, so I found it best to start hiking back to the road, and my vehicle.
It will be fun to see these plates scattered around the country.
