This is what was called the Sheep Bridge back in the old days. It's located on the Payette River below McCall, down by the Smoke Jumper Base. I believe it was originally used to get sheep herds across the river to the railroad stock yards that used to be where the Jumper Base is now. The bridge became privately owned a few years back (it probably always was) and the owner screened it from public use. Then it went to a new owner, and he removed the bridge, put in new abutments, and repaired it. This shot is of the bridge being hoisted back over the river onto its new abutments. It's once again open to the public, but only for foot and bike traffic. And, as in the old days, it's a favorite fishing spot.
This shot was used as the feature shot on the front page of The Star News.
